Review written by Elise Lasser, 400m sprinter from Belgium - May 2023:
My Stellenbosch track and field trainingcamp experience:
First of all, the weather is almost always very good in Stellenbosch. Always in around 30 degrees in the months december until march. The track in Stellenbosch is of really good quality and has a beautiful view over some mountains. If you are in need of a strenght room, there is one next to the track (it’s called Maties Gym) and there’s everything there that an athlete might need. In this complex, there’s acces to a lot of recovery tools, such as a physio, massage therapist and hot and cold tubs. If you are injured and are in need of some alternative work, there’s a swimming pool as well to do some aquajogging. You can also use the Wattbike in the gym as some alternative work. Next to the track as well, there’s a field of grass on which you can run if you want lower impact. And there’s a possibility to run hills aswell if you’re a sprinter that likes to get faster.😊 It’s like a 10min walk from the track to the center of Stellenbosch. There you can find some healthy spots to eat and drink, such as Java. You have supermakets overthere as well, which are not at all expensive. I was staying at a villa 200m away from the track. It’s called De Haas. There are people who work there, who would clean your clothes and make your bed every single day. And they are really doing it with a smile!😊 In conclusion, my experience in Stellenbosch was really good and it’s really worth going overthere!
