Iten  - the "Home of Champions" is one of the top destinations for high altitude training amongst professional long-distance runners. Iten is located at an altitude of 2400m above sea level in the Elgeyo-Marakwt County of Kenya.

In Iten, runners are surrounded by various dirt roads but also asphalt roads. Lornah Kiplagat Sports Academy's 400m synthetic track and Kamariny Stadium's 400m mud track can be found in the area.

Several training centers can be found in Iten offering athletes accommodation, gym facilities with both weights and cardio machines, swimming pools, and other athlete-supporting facilities.
